O que são os bardos?
Um bardo, na história antiga da Europa, era uma pessoa encarregada de transmitir as histórias, as lendas e poemas de forma oral, cantando a história de seus povos em poemas recitados. Era simultaneamente músico e poeta e, mais tarde, seria designado de trovador. É a principal raiz da música tradicional irlandesa.
Essa figura, importante na divulgação dos saberes populares, ganhou maior destaque com o surgimento nos últimos anos da enorme gama de livros sobre fantasia medieval e os jogos de RPG - Role Playing Games.
Praticamente qualquer jovem sabe - ainda que não tudo - o que é um bardo.
E o que significa ser um bardo?
Não é ser um bardo que é algo significante, é saber que as histórias que você cantar, contar, espalhar, propagar, permanecerão perpetuadas nas mentes dos demais. Essa figura, hoje imortalizada, é também esquecida - talvez exceto por poucos nomes, como o do escritor e dramaturgo inglês William Sheakspeare, que recebeu a alcunha de "O Bardo".
Acredito que uma das melhores definições do que é um bardo esteja na música "The Bard's Song - In The Forest" da banda alemã Blind Guardian.
